The Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program: a program to help business owners with disabilities

The Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program is for people who have self-declared a disability and want to set up or expand a business. This program helps reduce barriers for northerners with disabilities.

Who can apply?

Applicants must have a disability that limits their ability to perform at least one of the basic activities of self-employment or entrepreneurship.

This is a not a grant. We will only consider loans, loan guarantees, or partnerships.

What are the conditions for loans?

  • All funding is repayable.
  • Interest rates are charged on loans (ranging from bank prime plus 2% to prime plus 6%)
  • The maximum amount that is available to any individual or business is $150,000.
  • Funding is dependent on the feasibility of the applicant’s business plan.
  • Business and personal collateral may be requested to secure the financing.
  • A minimum of 10% equity is required.

How to apply:

The staff at Community Futures North Central Development will help you apply. A copy of the CFNCD Loan Application is available in the download section on top right of page. They will help you:

  • determine eligibility,
  • complete application forms, and
  • prepare a business plan.

The Business Development Committee will review all applications and approve or reject the application.

Exciting news for the north! The 2018 Manitoba Winter Games powered by Manitoba Hydro will be held in Thompson from March 4-10, 2018.  We anticipate Thompson to be a bustling hive of activity as we welcome 1800 athletes plus coaches, families and sport representatives!

Dragon's Quest Business Plan Competition

This competition is for Indigenous entrepreneurs who started a business after January 31, 2017 or that will launch before April 30, 2018.  Contest presented by Community Futures Manitoba through their Indigenous Business Service Network.  Deadline to enter is March 23rd.
